So many of these men referenced are high ranking LDS .

From my research and testimony of many who leave that church it seems they don't believe in reporting sex abuse or other violence against women and children but prefer to " deal" with it behind closed doors . How convenient for them

The really disgusting part of this is that in happens in ALL organized religions. Look at the catholic church's history which is even longer than LDS.

Every church I have ever known of is rife with sexual abuse . Even driving passed a church sickens me .

Any "church" that is led by men and demand obedience from their women is suspicious. It's a shame the brainwashing begins at birth...much harder for the women (and children) to escape from.

Oh, I know too well what that indoctrination does to the women and children who are under the control of the males . I have several friends who escaped from sects that allowed sexual abuse of the most vulnerable . What infuriated me were the older women who knew what was happening ( it had happened to them ) and enabled , condoned and even participated in the abuse . I had relatives who were part of a church in Oregon that protected a husband and wife team of " pastors" who were groomers .

Cheryl, as you know, it is a revolving cycle. Not many can break from it successfully. They all carry the scars, guilt and shame.

A Quote from the Judge. "He went on to assert that 'whenever law enforcement gets involved for any reason, it necessarily involves the children again, and um, and that I think deepens the problem.'. I now ask the rhetorical question. Should law enforcement ignore your plea for assistance after your comment about deepening the problem? Will the fire department respond when your house is on fire? Maybe their attendance would deepen the problem. We, as a community, hire special individuals who train and commit to our safety. To demean them is just plain stupid, and harmful to the innocent. I sure hope the judge never has to eat his words before he realizes what he has said. Remember, education is the cure for ignorance, but there is no cure for stupid.

It's so flagrant. Judge Basden was looking out for a member of his LDS stake instead of his duty to the public and the children! Disgusting!

Kristin, Basden is a piece of garbage who has permanently put his brand on people's lives and emotions. He's a walking PTSD inflictor.

Brent Basden is a predator, an abuser.
