Being dragged into court is bad enough. There is a lot of stress involved which invades every moment of your life while putting together evidence and defenses, especially in this case, as it was frivolously ridiculous. BUT when one wins it's fantastic. The topping on this cake is that the Judge dressed him down in court and we are able to enjoy with you. I'm smiling ; )
I think you’re treading dangerous territory by targeting Ben Mavy. He is not an elected public official, he is not employed by the county or even part of the Church of Latter Day Saints leadership. He has not been convicted of child pedophilia. You could have made your case for Nepotism against Judge Basden without targeting one of thousands of families who have to go to family court for divorce proceedings and parental plans.
Do you have a personal beef with him? Is his ex-wife paying you to do this constant hit piece on him?
I think you’re staking your business on someone who could take it from you, especially if he is innocent of the accusations. You would do well to keep your focus on the institutions and elected leaders, if that is the kind of news you want to report on.
Ben Mavy has no obligation to disclose, be accountable or transparent on anything you say other than what the judge requires him to do. He is a private citizen. If you feel Judge Basden is covering for his accused crimes, then why don’t you let your readers be the judge of that instead of risking your business and reputation? It appears that you are taking one man’s, (out of thousands,) misfortune and targeting his religion and his private family business to expose Judge Basden.
If Ben Mavy gets acquitted of any charges and is able to get his family restored, are you willing to write an apology and admit you were wrong, or do you have some incriminating evidence on him that you are not telling your readers?
It’s your publication so do what you want but decide if you will peddle in gossip or in truth.
