Federal Grand Jury Indicts Former Clallam Drug Court Coordinator Johnny Watts Jr.
A federal grand jury has formally indicted former Clallam County Drug Court Coordinator Johnny F. Watts Jr. and a co-defendant on federal drug distribution and weapons charges.
As part of our ongoing coverage, we are providing the public with a complete copy of the six-page Indictment document below.
The indictment outlines the specific allegations brought forth by the grand jury.
According to the document, Watts faces two federal counts stemming from an incident on or about March 11, 2026:
Count 1: Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. The grand jury alleges Watts possessed fentanyl and 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture with the intent to distribute.
Count 2: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Watts is accused of possessing a Beretta Model 21A .25 caliber pistol. The document asserts that Watts is legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior 2008 felony conviction in Clallam County for second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
The indictment also details three federal counts against co-defendant Jonathan E. Karns, who is accused of possessing 40 grams or more of a fentanyl mixture with intent to distribute, as well as possessing a Glock 48 9mm pistol in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Karns is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a 2004 first-degree burglary conviction in Kitsap County.
Additionally, the document contains forfeiture allegations, indicating the government’s intent to seize multiple firearms allegedly recovered during the investigation.
These include the Beretta and Glock handguns, as well as a Radical Arms 12-gauge shotgun and an AR-style firearm with no identifiable serial number that were seized from a Sequim residence associated with Watts.
