The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction issued a final order of suspension for the teaching certificate of John Saffold, a former Marysville School District teacher who failed to report a student’s disclosure regarding a sexual relationship with another staff member.
Reinstate his certificate? I have nothing against redemption, and I also have nothing against zero tolerance policies. He violated professional standards once while dealing with minors, that’s enough. He didn’t value his profession, education, and certification the first time to do what was already required of him.
