A Port Hadlock man was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years and three months in prison for the April 2025 robbery of Kitsap Bank in Sequim.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brent Basden imposed the 171-month sentence after Dale Jaff, 59, pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery, three counts of second-degree assault and second-degree theft, according to court records.

Jaff entered an Alford plea. In his signed plea statement, he did not admit guilt but acknowledged that the evidence could support a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

He agreed that the court could review police reports or a probable-cause statement to establish the factual basis for his plea.

Basden accepted the plea and followed the prison recommendation agreed to by prosecutors and the defense.

The sentence also includes 18 months of community custody under Department of Corrections supervision after his release from prison.

As part of the negotiated resolution, the court dismissed deadly-weapon sentencing enhancements attached to all five counts.

The 171-month robbery sentence was at the top of the standard range of 129 to 171 months listed in the court records.

Judge Basden imposed 84 months on each assault count and 29 months for theft, with all prison terms running at the same time.

The judgment grants credit for eligible time served before sentencing solely in this case, with the jail responsible for calculating that credit.

The robbery occurred about 3:30 p.m. April 9, 2025, at Kitsap Bank, 1320 W. Washington St. In its initial account, Sequim police said a masked man carrying pepper spray requested cash from a teller and fled on foot. Police reported no injuries.

Sequim officers, assisted by the Peninsula Crisis Response Team, arrested Jaff at his Jefferson County residence about 6 a.m. May 9, 2025.

Police said investigators reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses, interviewed witnesses and followed up on information from the public. Police also said a search of the residence uncovered evidence they believed was connected to the robbery.

Defense attorney Alex Stalker addressed the court about the agreed sentencing recommendation. Jaff chose not to speak.

During community custody, Jaff is barred from contact with Kitsap Bank property or anyone he knows to be a bank employee.

Basden found Jaff indigent and waived non-restitution legal financial obligations.
